365 - Turning Club Meeting - 18/Feb/2012

Roy Boulton brought a Doll - created with another group - roughly half an hour was taken to make the doll.

Peter Kemp made a handle with steel sleeve plus a selection of small tools made from masonry nails - his hollow vessels shows that they performed as he wanted.

Colin King brought a selection of colourful bowls with patterned rims - plus a Burr Elm bowl.

Bill Foster showed colourful flowers - the petals were initially turned on the lathe.

Allen Atkins with Debbie Piggott turned a bowl - to be finished off by Debbie who also brought a pot-pourri bowl plus a candle holder. Allen continued by demonstrating the turning of a bird plus a cup and ball - as used by Henry VIII and others...

Meanwhile - Roy Boulton turned a cup, he then pierced it. Next he added a large finial … to the base. Finally he added a lid to the cup with a large finial and a hole through the centre - for a string. Something new - this is a Pomander - it can be filled with pot-pourri and hung in a living room, toilet or wardrobe.

Bob Burn brought a bowl in Spalted Beech plus a Spinning Top with Ekki Handle. He also provided photos of a board game he has just constructed. Next - the rules for how the game is played!!!
