465 - Turning Club - Gary Rance demo

Gary started with a demo of basic spindle turning - mainly with the skew chisel. He showed how to deliberately create dig-ins - and thus how to avoid them…

Using a simple jig Gary showed his techniques for producing pendants.

He then created a Pepper Mill with emphasis on repeatability and alignment issues to ensure smooth working.

A short demo on creating Tool Handles followed.

Back in Feb 1996 Gary did an article on a Ring Box Puzzle - he demonstrated this with emphasis on the extreme care needed to get a perfect fit between the parts.

Finally he created a Pomander from the Banksia nut.

Roy set the challenge for next week - create the Ring Box Puzzle.
