420 - Turning Club - Goblet theme.

Goblets ranged in size from about 6mm tall (and with a captive ring!) to about 200mm with a very long stem.

Many had long decorated stems - some with classic ornaments, some had captive rings. Some were decorated with barley twists - with constant or changing pitch and one was turned and then carved.

As well as the Goblets there were Pott-Pourri, a table lamp, a soft closing toothpick holder, a kitchen roll holder, a segmented vase, bowls and boxes.

Roy Boulton demonstrated turning a number of items, turning a captive ring, and thread chasing while Allen Atkins gave one-on-one tuition and demonstrated turning a lidded box.

There were a variety of beautiful woods used - Yew, Oak, Silver Birch, Beech, Bubinga, Amarilla, Crab Apple and composites/segmented wood.

Next week there will be a demo by visiting professional Greg Moreton.

The following week - the theme will be "a three sided platter".
