Turning Club - 16/January/2016

Woods shown included Sycamore, Yew, Copper Beech, African Blackwood, Amazique, Walnut, Maple and pallet wood.

Pieces shown - a toothpick holder in deer antler; lidded boxes in Yew, one in a pear form; a hollow form with tall finial; a goblet in Sycamore (work in progress); a large dish in spalted Beech; and a natural edged oval form dish in Maple with a pyrography maple design on the base.

Allen Atkins displayed a Jaguar mounted on walnut as a presentation piece. He demo'd turning and finishing a clam shell shaped lidded box in Goncalo Alves plus a light pull and a honey dipper (spirtle) from a recovered cricket stump.

Roy Boulton demo'd turning a dish and a goblet in very wet Copper Beech plus a threaded pill box in deer antler.
