Turning Club - 23/July/2016

Woods shown included Ash, Zebrano, Walnut, Hawthorn, Kokko, Elm, Laburnum, Birch burr, Yew, Padauk and Sycamore.

Pieces shown included - a set of pendants with beaded lanyards on a display board; pens in wood and acrylics; spinning tops with colouring; a plate in spalted ash with a brass insert; pepper mills, a serviette holder stand; flasks - hollow forms with tall finial lids - in contrasting woods; a Yew goblet; bowls/dishes/vases with Milliput decoration; pot-pourri in Sycamore and Padauk; natural edged dish in walnut; and a set of number holder stands used for numbering tables at events at clubs.

Milliput is an acrylic putty which comes in various colours. Widely available online. Colin King created striped ribbons of Milliput which were inlayed into bowls and vases and blended to the piece after drying. A cylinder of Milliput was used for the body of a pen.
