Turning Club - 06/Aug/2016

Woods shown included Austrian Pine, Laburnum, Oak, Cherry, Brown Oak, Sycamore, Spalted Beech and Goncalo Alves.

Pieces shown included a large bowl in Austrian Pine (this turned black after turning and now has a green coloration); a set of lidded boxes in Laburnum, Oak and Cherry plus a larger bowl in Sequoia; a wide rimmed dish coloured with interference paints (use Search tab - look for "iridescent" or "interference") ; a floral display; and a floor size "tazza" - a cake stand with base and pedestal plus removable rim in Sycamore - it has a transparent bowl (from a frying pan lid).

Roy Boulton demo'd turning an Urn form lidded box and assisted members with personal projects. .

Allen Atkins - demo'd turning a lidded box in Spalted Beech - with a tall finial and an onlay in Goncalo Alves.
