Turning Club - 29/Jul/2017.

Woods shown included Laburnum, Yew, Beech, Hazel, False Acacia, Oak, Ash, Lignum Vitae, Mahogany, Maple, Larch, Silvery Birch, Boxwood, South American Tulipwood, Walnut and Zebrano.

Pieces showed included - a lattice form wide rimmed dish with lid; a vase/hollow form with colouring; a candle holder and a floral display piece; natural edged dishes in False Acacia; two figurines incorporating paper knives; a four cornered winged dish in Hazel; a paper knife in Oak; a miniature chair in Ash plus a candle holder in Zebrano; a carvers mallet plus an ink spreader used with silk screen printing; a vase in coloured Larch and Mahogany, a lidded vase in coloured Silver Birch with Yew lid; a tall finial lidded box in Laburnum; and a large flat bottomed bowl in Yew.

Roy Boulton demo'd thread chasing and lidded box techniques in Boxwood.

Allen Atkins demo'd turning a coloured vase form plus a series of lidded boxes with tall finials (S. American Tulipwood, Laburnum, Walnut). He also brought several samples including a bird form and Boxwood puzzles.
