Turning Club - 6 Apr 2019.

Woods used included - Sycamore, Afrormosia, Poplar, Boxwood, Laurel, Purple Heart, Yew, Apple, "Tree of Heaven", Walnut, Ash, Kingwood, Pear, Oak, Ash, Beech, Zebrano, Walnut, Laburnum, Acacia, Elm, and Emeri/Idigbo (W.African).

Today, many pieces were brought for display. They included - a mini competition to create a Natural Edged Dish turned using Boxwood, Yew, Apple, "Tree of Heaven", Walnut, Ash and Kingwood. There were a number of "lidded boxes" - large and small, some with threaded lids, also Bud Vases and Vases and a pen holder; new tech with LEDs was incorporated into two hanging decorative displays.

Peter Broadhurst brought two large natural edged dishes in Poplar; plus a large pot with base in Afrormosia and a contrasting rim in Sycamore. He also created an hollow egg with spiral slots in Boxwood on a Laurel base.

Allen Atkins brought a collection of recent demo pieces including coloured vase and bud vase, a Laburnum bud vase and an apple in Elm. Today he demo'd turning a dish in Emeri/Idigbo (W. African).

Robert Bullard demo'd turning an Acacia dish; and showed a collection of decorated/textured dishes in Walnut, in Ash and in Kingwood; plus a Gavel and Block in Oak, Ash and Beech.

Graham Jones demo'd turning a ring stand in Laburnum and also showed a Mantel Clock/Photograph holder in Zebrano and Beech.

Roy Boulton demo'd turning techniques with a bud vase plus other pieces.

There were again a number of first-time visitors watching the various demonstrations.
