Turning Club - 04 Aug 2018.

Woods used - Mahogany, Cherry, American Tulipwood, Brazilian Tulipwood, Birds Eye Maple, Sycamore, Laburnum, Ash, Pear, Yew, Indian Ebony, Iroko, and Purple Heart.

Bill Foster created display piece showing rare old Tulips (Holland in 1500s), plus a set of carved goblets and a single goblet with carved face. 

Other pieces shown included lidded boxes in Purple Heart (one with Corian inlay); a mortar and pestle with pyrography design; a complex segmented lidded box in Sycamore and Laburnum with white lamination between the segments; a large bowl of fruit - bowl in Ash and fruit in Pear (wood) and Yew together with a dice with Laburnum dots; a parting knife with handle in Indian Ebony and a bird figure with movable head.

Colin King, Geoff Endersby, Peter Kemp, Christine Holmes and Keith Mansfield joined the challenge of creating a candle holder - a range of designs were created.

Roy Boulton and Graham Jones both gave demonstrations of techniques.

Allen Atkins demo'd turning a vase form in Yew plus a plant stand in Mahogany.
