Turning Club - 05/Apr/2014

Today's woods used included... sycamore, oak, brown oak, idigbo, yew, boxwood, burr oak, African blackwood, pink ovory, juniper, zebrano, walnut (very light) and Australian black hearted sassafras.

Some 17 members brought items for display - pieces shown included - dishes, skeleton and wall mounted clocks, a large bowl, a piggy bank, offset turning (including a captive box), desk displays, a vase shaped piece in yew, pens/pencil - in African Blackwood and a gun pen in Pink Ivory, a bottle opener, a gavel, an acorn and a lidded box - both with threaded lids, cheese knives plus offset turning with an experiment with colouring...

Members, several visitors and prospective members watched demos by Roy Boulton and Allen Atkins who produced detailed demo pieces, a gavel, a bow, a dish and bud vases ...
