Turning Club - 28/Jun/2014

Woods shown today included ash, oak, goncalo alves, cherry, paralam, myrtle, sweet chestut, apple, steamed pear and laburnum.

The pieces shown were: a solid oak occasional table, a dish in ash with a lace inlay, a laced vase form in goncalo alves, a natural edged goblet in cherry plus a heat bent stem goblet (with pen) in cherry, a owl faced bird scarer, roughed-out bowls in apple and sweet chestnut, a paralam bowl, and a lidded box with stone effect.

Roy Boulton demo'd re-turning techniques on drying wood followed by a jewellery stand in laburnum. Meanwhile Allen Atkins demo'd offset/shadow turning with a goblet on an offset stem all in steamed pear.
